KETCHUP!
Posted in Family & Friends on September 8th, 2010 by Mika – 2 CommentsThe past day and a half have been pretty great. It started with Angel and Kristen walking into my workplace shortly before I was let off. This is the first time I’ve met Internet friends in real life so it was exciting. They drove from the Tucson, AZ area to San Diego pretty much just to visit with me for the couple of days I’m off for my “weekend” which is pretty amazing! I haven’t had anyone visit me in San Diego except for family, so I was psyched
They picked me up from work Tuesday afternoon and we were off to Kristen’s dad’s house1 and he cooked us up steaks, baked potatoes and some veggies which was pretty delicious. Having a solid, home-cooked meal was great; as awesome as the food from work is, it gets boring day in and day out. We just hung around afterward talking and such. The friendships translate well from our chats online to real life.
Today, we drove up to Irvine to meet and have lunch with Tawni. I finally achieved the Over Share badge on 4square2. Not only that, but I’ve learned I’ve dropped a few jean sizes, and I have the ability to fit into a size Medium shirt3. Despite some sort of financial snag I learned of, I kept my spirits up and had fun the rest of the afternoon and evening with Ang & Kristen. We met up with Ang’s mother-in-law for dinner. She’s quite the interesting woman! Very high energy and very fun to talk with.
I do have to say, Kristen’s car will be the death of my ears at some point due to her wheels or something being so loud and unfixable, apparently.
The consistent low drone it creates is comparable to a very loud fan. You get used to it, but once it’s off, “you realize how unsettling it’s been.”4 haha
The only person missing from the whole equation is Jenn! We’ve been thinking and talking about her quite and bit and wish she weren’t so many more states away! Too bad San Diego isn’t cheaper or else we’d ALL live out here together! Maybe if we all pitch in a buy a house and live together with all of our families, it could totally work and be kinda fun? Maybe? No? Poop…
Now I’m sitting here, trying to figure out how to fix the problem with my subdomains. I figure it has something to do with the switch-over to a new server and knocking the databases for my fanlistings and quilting bee quilt out of whack. Since I’m not smart enough in that area, I backed up my databases and will try just starting over. Blerg. Anybody have good resources on learning how to become a more competent website/domain owner? I’m lost when it comes to databases, MySQL and crap like this. It’s beyond me.
