While flipping through channels on satellite tv from www.direct.tv the other day, I found myself watching an animated movie for the 1st time in years called Meet the Robinsons. The story follows a young orphan inventor named Lewis, who is consistently passed over for adoption due to his weirdness and age. His roommate is a little boy named Mike Yagoobian, or Goob for short, who is unable to sleep thanks to the noise Lewis creates while building his inventions. He becomes determined to find his mother and runs into a boy from the future named Wilbur Robinson. Wilbur claims to be a time cop who is searching for a stolen time machine. The machine is stolen by the Bowler hat guy who also damages Lewis’ invention at the science fair. Lewis intends to quit, but Wilbur claims that Lewis needs to fix his machine as he is headed for great things. Lewis is skeptical, so Wilbur decides to take Lewis into the future, showing him a world filled with remarkable technological advancements and a family (the Robinsons) full of love and happiness. Unfortunately, the Bowler hat guy and his pet robot Doris also return to the future in an attempt to get Lewis to show them how his science fair invention works. I love how Lewis comes full circle and is able to accept himself for who he is.

Everything is settled with the car, registration & tags, and the husband’s license. I’m also settled into the recliner in the loft at Angel‘s house, sitting in computer geek silence with Kristen in Arizona. I’ve officially met all 7 of the cats, 3 dogs and 2 ferrets! It’s my first encounter with ferrets and I have to say, they’re quite enjoyable and cute! I did not expect their fur to be so course, though. I haven’t experienced the stink that they apparently develop? That would be thanks to Angel cleaning their cage before I arrived, as I’m staying in their room for the duration of my stay here heh.

I have to say, it is amazingly quiet in this town. Also, since it’s an hour outside of Phoenix, there’s very little light pollution as well. It kind of reminds me of my time spent living in South Carolina. There was a time while the husband and I were still in the military when he was trying to get orders to Arizona. It’d be the closest we could get to home as far as Air Force bases are concerned, without living in the middle of nowhere in central or northern California, or smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles. Not to mention, it’d be a hell of a lot cheaper! I also hear some cool stories about the storms and weather they get out here in Arizona

Robby made steaks marinated in the Sauce of Awesome Loser. Angel & Robby decided to rename the Mika-safe version of this sauce to that, since the Sauce of Awesome is actually quite spicy and my mouth just can’t handle much spice, if any. I kind of resent that to some people *ahem* spice = flavor. Just because my diet happens to lack things on the more calienté end of the spectrum doesn’t mean I eat bland food. I can’t stand flavorless food! I love seasoning and using flavors… I just have a low tolerance to capsaicin in my food. I voted to rename it to at least Sauce of Meh, but my requests were ignored heh.

I finally saw the Rocky Horror episode of Glee, with Kristen. I don’t understand why so many people are crying foul and whining that they killed it. Was it because it wasn’t a direct interpretation? Did they add a little too much of their own thing? Seriously? STFU people. They had fun with it and I enjoyed it for what it was. It wasn’t full of win, but I loved seeing their interpretation of the songs, costumes and characters. Having fun with Rocky Horror is what matters! Go throw some rice or squirt yourself with some water, why don’tcha?

[Guest Post] I love watching NCIS!

I appreciate the guest post, Marian Combs.

A great television show that I greatly enjoy watching on my satellite television from direc4u is NCIS. This show takes the real organization of Naval Criminal Investigative Services, and turns those into a drama television show like never before. It really gives a good look at what the organization goes through on a daily basis and how it affects the world around us.

The most popular character in my eyes is Leroy Jethro Gibbs. This character is played by a great actor named Mark Harmon. Leroy is a Special Agent in Charge in the show and leads the Major Cast Response Team. His wife Shannon and daughter Kelly were tragically killed while in the protection of the NIS, possibly creating the entire reason why he now does what he does.

Another great character in the show is Anthony ‘Tony’ Dinozzo. He is played by Michael Weatherly. Anthony is a field agent in the show who is a Special Agent of the Major Cast Response Team that Leroy is on. He uses a lot of great intuition and gut instincts in the show, making him one of the most valuable members on the force.

The show is filmed almost completely in Santa Clarita, California. The show is supposed to be taking place in Washington, D.C. Sadly, a main character, Donald Bellisario, stepped down in 2007. This was something I disliked, but the show is still great!

How 'Bout Them Dodgers?

The latest I’ve worked is 11pm with my current employer. I’ve never closed and the earliest I’ve worked is 7:30am or so… so technically I guess I’ve helped open, but not nearly as early as others. Sometimes after I’m off work at night, I’ll look at the clock a few hours later and realize we’re still open and my coworkers are still at it! I was actually let off a little under an hour early tonight. Early in the week are generally our least busy days.

You know what’s a very interesting series to watch? The History of Sex on the History channel. They go through the beginning of humanity through current times. There are so many interesting things that occurred sex-wise early on in history. It’s astounding, sometimes! The ignorance and surface prudishness of even early doctors, and the amazing hidden perversity experienced by both sexes is just… awesome to learn about!

The Dodgers are seriously disappointing me now. They’ve fallen into 3rd fricken place, behind the Giants, for our division. It’s causing me to lose any hope that they’ll perform well for us against the Yankees this Sunday! I want to see them kick Yankee butt! Just going to the game will be pretty awesome. It’s the gift my cousin is giving my husband for his birthday and myself plus my dad get to go along for the fun. I’m excited! I wanted to get him an authentic Lasorda jersey but they’re 1) expensive and 2) hard to find! Replicas are much easier to get your hands on, but I wanted the real thing… I eventually want to get myself a Piazza Dodgers jersey :) Those are even harder to find! There are plenty of Mets jerseys for him :P

Gosh, I need money. I need to win the lottery! It would help my chances if I actually played the lottery, huh? *lol*

I Want Your Vertigo Shtick

I’m sitting in my recliner, watching a bunch of Lady Gaga music videos on Fuse. There doesn’t seem to be much else on that appeals to me. I had recorded the last hour or so of Happy Feet on the DVR but it apparently only wanted to record a random chunk of 10 minutes towards the beginning of the movie (I didn’t change the channel so it technically should’ve recorded the whole thing through the end). That pissed me off.

It’s father’s day and I’m so thankful and lucky to have the dad I have. He’s amazing. My cousin brought tears to my eyes last night, though, mentioning our grandfather who passed away in October two years ago. I miss him a LOT.

Lately I’ve been really wanting to take advantage of the work out room next to the pool in my apartment complex. At least, I’d love to walk on the treadmill or something for an hour a day to get started. I want to get rid of this stomach and smooth things out.

You know what I hate? When watching TV or doing anything else and it inspires a craving. Watching a random reality show, they were picking from a large platter of nachos and GOD I wanted them immediately. It’s easy to trigger a craving in me when I’m hungry, too. The closest thing I could do related to nachos is heat up some refried beans and maybe make a quesadilla with cheddar cheese and some leftover Taco Bell sauce. I’m not sure if I want to go through the effort though lol.

Tomorrow I’ll be going to my company’s picnic for our region’s associates. It’s about two hours away and I’m eager to enjoy all the free food (gosh, I’m sound like such a glutton!) and see my BFF and hopefully some of my old coworkers. The husband’s coming with – hopefully he enjoys himself at least a little bit.
