Hack, Cough, Sputter

I spent the last week up in L.A. with friends & family. As much as I love being up there, it was so bittersweet with what I’ve been going through. Christmas just didn’t feel so much like Christmas, not only because of that, but because my extended family get-together was to happen on Christmas day as opposed to eve. It’s not necessarily a bad change, but it just made for things to feel less like it had in previous years. The gatherings are definitely getting larger, though. I think my grandma counted 37 people! There were a lot of people I didn’t even know their names! Thankfully there’s no drama with our gatherings. No fights, no animosity, etc. I’ve always been grateful for that and still am!

I’ll talk about my gatherings with friends in another post, but for now I just want to whine about how I’m feeling sick now. I started feeling it on Monday, but I just figured it was due to my getting drunk on Christmas. Nope, it was the start of the all too familiar settling of mucous in my lungs, and with that comes the labored coughing, trying to get it out and burning from trying to do THAT. Ugh. Monday, my sinuses just felt raw. I presumed it was from the dry air1 and maybe smoking more than I thought I did. I slept with my humidifier on last night, but that didn’t seem to help much. Either way, it’s time to load up on the Mucinex and Theraflu, as well as continual sleeping with the humidifier.

The one thing that made me feel better was Gunny missed me enough that she slept with me for quite a while last night, at various points. She doesn’t do that on an everyday basis, so yay! haha

I’ll post more positive things later, I’m sure. I said I wanted to whine, and I did, so now it’s time for bed. Thankfully I get to sleep in, as I don’t work until the evening tomorrow!

Invasion of the Congestion

OH. MY. GOD. My sinuses are killing me. I’m all sorts of itchy around the top area of my face. My nose has gone from random dripping to down-right streaming all the while going from one nostril to the other being stuffed up to some degree. No amount of sneezing is providing relief, nor is blowing my nose, taking decongestants or Benadryl. This has been going on since Monday.

I can’t tell if it’s a cold of sorts or allergies. I’ve never really been an allergy sufferer, so I really don’t know what the difference is. I’m just so tired of the circus going on in my head. I’m actually kind of afraid of taking the antihistamines since the last time I did, I ended up with a fucked up sense of taste, which I found is a possible side-effect.

I have to say one of the worst feelings, though, is when I’m all hyped up for a sneeze and it just … disappears. Talk about a tease! I work tonight. I really hope this shit doesn’t keep me down all night…

I Would Runaway With You

Wednesday I woke up early for a doctor’s appointment and ended up having to redo something that required narcotic pain killers so I had to call out of work. It was my last shift before going on vacation for 10 days so I felt awful about it – but I doubt they know or care :/

Before I headed home, I bought a replacement power supply for my laptop at Frys. It was very quick since I brought with me my other one. My new one, though, is a tiny bit loose so it’ll disconnect from the laptop and it’ll cause this shrill beep. I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to turn off that sound since it’s not part of the normal sound schemes. It’s the actual system making the sound and it’s SO obnoxious.

I managed to NOT find my eyeglasses before leaving with my brother from SD to LA. Half-way through driving up, my husband calls and tells me he found them. I left them on our washer/dryer, but since I had the door closed to the area it’s in, I didn’t see them. I didn’t even remember putting them there until he told me where they were. I’m debating on whether I want to have him mail them to me (in their case!). I’ve got to mail him his asthma medication he left in my brother’s room on Tuesday… luckily I have some leftover Christmas stamps in my large wallet that I brought with me. Oooh! I also found some First Class stamps! Nice, I thought the husband took them. I’ll be able to send post cards & letters.

I say I’m going to send people post cards & letters but I never end up doing so. How sucky is that? I still have post cards address to people from YEARS ago. :/ Shame on me! *lol*

I’m going to have quite a bit to read while I’m up there. I brought with me a few books and bought two more while I was out today. I just added them to my currently reading shelf on Good Reads. If you’d like to check it out (there’s only a handful of books on there that I’ve actually read) and/or add me me as a friend, go right ahead! http://www.goodreads.com/mikachu

I should get in a nap before we leave in a handful of hours. I miss my husband already, even if things aren’t great & perfect :P My loving him never changes *sigh*

PS: I’m embarrassed that I didn’t do the last day of Project: Blog! What a bummer! There are a few days I missed… That’s a bummer, too.
