Let’s Go South

To be honest, the husband and I have contemplated actually going back to South Carolina to visit our friends and our favorite dive bar. While it sucked to live in the South overall, there were definite points of enjoyment. We both had friends and we both had places we enjoyed going to. Unfortunately, a lot of our friends have been PCSed to new bases, a majority ended up in Germany somehow. Only a small handful of people we knew remain. I think if we went back, we’d finally have a chance to really see the sights. I mean, we never did visit any of the resorts in Myrtle Beach that everyone raved about!

We managed a long weekend in Charleston and got to enjoy the sites for the most part, but we never made it out to Myrtle Beach, which is more of the beachy, boardwalk-type of place. People take families to go have fun in the sun, party at a fun & fancy coastal Myrtle Beach hotel. It’s primarily a summer destination from what I’ve gathered. I remember hearing about one of the new music-related resorts opening up, the Hard Rock I believe, and the Eagles were slated to play the grand opening. I wanted to be there so badly!

While we were living in South Carolina, the husband hadn’t yet quite gotten in to golf, and his interest has wained now in favor of futbol, but I’m sure he’d love to experience some of the golf courses out there, like ones displayed on http://avistaresort.com/. My dad would be a prime candidate partner for him on a trip if golfing was one of the main attractions.

Better To Play It Downhill

My husband loves to golf. He’s only been golfing for a little over a year, but since then, he’s become very knowledgeable about the sport and a pretty decent player. He beats out my dad, even! Most of my family members are golfers, actually, including my mom. My grandfather, my dad and his older brother, my mom and even my brother – they all have their own golf clubs and play. It’s a shame that my dad never made it out to visit us when we lived in South Carolina because I’m sure a weekend trip to one of the Myrtle Beach golf courses would’ve been amazing!

It’s also a shame that the husband didn’t get into golf until we moved back to Southern California. If my dad had made it out and the husband was actually into golf, I would’ve suggested they go out for one of the Myrtle Beach golf packages together. They love golfing together, even if my dad gets beat by somebody who’s only been golfing a year and half! They keep up with their scores and handicaps online and use sites like http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.net/ to set up tee times and find out green fees. We never did make it out to Myrtle Beach during the 3 years we lived out there. :(

Maybe I should also give in and pick up golf like the rest of my family? What do you think? Have you ever actually played golf?
