Day 30

Posted in Memes on October 16th, 2010 by Mika – 1 Comment

Something random.

I officially changed my first flat tire tonight. We had slow leak in our rear left tire. For some reason, the husband forgot to have it patched/changed when he bought two new tires that were worn down to the threads :| . We attempted to temporarily patch it up with some stuff in a can but on my way to pick up the husband from work, it went totally flat. I had to haul out the donut, jack up the car, loosen and take off the lug nuts, swap out tires… all while waiting for him to come out of his work building.

I’ve had to go through this before, while we were still living in South Carolina, and funny enough it was the same wheel! Not the same tire of course, but the left rear wheel nonetheless. A coworker came out and helped me, though, since I didn’t have the right leverage1 to get the lug nuts loosened.

We won’t have the funds to get a new tire until Monday, so we have to drive slowly and carefully for the next day and a half. Eugh. I really hope the donut doesn’t give out before then! I’m very proud of myself for changing the tire by myself, though! *flexes muscles*

Work was unusually slow for a Saturday night. Apparently they were unusually busy for the day, though. I was let off an hour earlier than I was scheduled to. I could’ve been kept up to an hour more than I was scheduled for, but I knew by the amount of business we’d had that it wasn’t going to happen. Hopefully they don’t end up slammed now. It sucks when people are sent home early and we end up slammed and we’re short a few people. It’s the worst.

It’s been grey and drizzly for the past two days which makes me very happy. This is my kind of weather!

And… that completes my 30 Days project! Wow. I only missed three out of the thirty days. That’s pretty good, if I do say so myself ;)

  1. Or the smarts to improve it.

Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days.

A simple list will do.

  • Improve my relationship with the husband.
  • Start going to school.
  • Improve financials.
  • Move, get our stuff, and actually make it feel like home.
  • Spend more time with my friends.
  • Get a 2nd vehicle.
  • Lose some weight.
  • Eat healthier.
  • Cut down/quit smoking.
  • Get into some sort of exercise routine.
  • Actually make friends down here in SD.
  • Get my next raise at work.

Only one day left of this project!

Day 28

This year, in great detail.

It has been quite the year. Full of downs, but I think it’s finally on its way to an upswing. Here’s to hoping.

The start of the year was with the husband in Oklahoma City for training of his new job. I was simply working away, spending time with friends and family. Due to having to relocate from the LA area where my parents live and where I grew up to San Diego for the husband’s job, I had to explore apartments in the area. I can’t say it was a very enjoyable experience, although having my mom with me to help ask the right questions was great.

Another thing to mention is the rest of the men in our family were out and about on military stuff shortly after the new year. My brother shipped off to finish the rest of his technical training as an Air Force guardsman. My dad shipped out to Iraq to serve a 5 month deployment with his unit. I don’t remember crying as much when my dad left on his first deployment to Kuwait in 2002.

Towards the end of February is when the husband came home and we moved to San Diego. Shortly thereafter we started experiencing some serious problems in our relationship. It was very rough. It was ongoing up until this past month. There are still issues to work through and a lot of work to do, but the atmosphere is a lot better. I’m pretty sure there’s no one in my life who doesn’t know we’ve had issues, thanks to my ranting on Facebook or Twitter. There was definitely over-sharing on my part and after everything, that won’t be happening anymore. Ultimately, my parents have been a huge help, especially once I let them in after a particularly bad fight.

After moving to San Diego, I started at the new store I transferred to. I’m still trying to make friends with my coworkers. There are some I mesh with real well and others I know to keep my distance from and when. Hopefully I have better luck with developing outside friendships with some of my current coworkers than I did with the coworkers at my old store.

Here are some other bullet points from the year:

  • My BFF gave birth to a son.
  • I celebrated my first anniversary with my current employer.
  • Experienced my first professional massage, thanks to a birthday gift from my parents.
  • Netflix is one of my favorite services of the year!
  • I became fast and good friends with the girls at Ecstasy (Angel, Jenn & Kristen). I’ve even had Angel & Kristen visit me, making them the first friends I’ve met in real life that I’ve made online! They were also very supportive during a lot of the rough times with the husband.
  • I’ve become involved in sponsored blogging and product reviews (specifically adult toys).

I don’t think I missed anything too significant, or even relatively minor. My year’s been pretty intense, but overall not very active.

Day 27

This month, in great detail.

Should I go with what’s happened in October or all the way the length of a month to mid-September? Either way, I won’t be able to tell you much since life just blurs together lately. There’s been work, time up in LA, laziness down here in San Diego and not much else.

Life has been good. Things with the husband have settled down and we’re on good terms.

Work has been an adjustment since we lost our store manager to a new location opening and received another one. She’s still getting into the groove of the business we get at our store versus her old one, I suppose. She’s had to hire new people to make up for the people we lost following our old store manager. Unfortunately my schedule’s been rather weird. One week is 3 days, the next it’s back to my normal 5. The times we’re being scheduled for are different too. She’s trying a more graduated approach to start times, so not everyone is starting at once, and the actual amount of time on the schedule is a little weird. Like I said, we’re all still adjusting *lol*.

In leisure news, I’ve completely caught up on Grey’s Anatomy. I didn’t watch all of the seasons in order. 1-2 on DVD, 5 on Netflix, 3-4 via download, 6 on Netflix and now I’m current with season 7. All of that was over the course of about a year, since I bought a combo pack at Target of seasons 1 & 2. Other than that I’ve just been trying to work with Angel, Kristen & Jenn on message board stuff to breathe some life back into Ecstasy or whatnot.

My life isn’t very exciting lately, sorry ;)

Day 25 & 26

Whoops, I forgot to post yesterday simply because I was so crazy focused on something else.

Your day, in great detail.

I woke up at some unnatural hour to take the husband to work1, since we only have one car and I needed it to drive to Temecula and see my mommy. He was kind of a jerk, since he had told his crew he was going to do a breakfast run and I totally ruined it2. I came back to the apartment and laid back in bed for all of 5 minutes maybe before I realized it wasn’t worth it to try and get that last hour of sleep in before I had to be up, dressed and out of the door. I got up, threw a load of whites in the laundry and made coffee. I got online to say hello to the world3. Around 8:30am, I got myself dressed and out of the door, but not before giving Gunny some food so she wouldn’t starve to death in the handful of hours I’d be gone.

I drove to Temecula, which took about 40 minutes. There was actual slowing at the Border Patrol Checkpoint they have on the 15 North between San Diego & Tememcula. I’ve never driven through it while it was open. Luckily it wasn’t a long back-up and I was simply waved through4. I arrived at the hotel my parents were staying at and went up to their room where my mom was waiting. Dad had gone off to play golf and my mom and I were to have breakfast. She told me about the time share pitch they had on Saturday and about their wine tasting adventures on Sunday. We walked over from the hotel to the Marie Calendars connected via the parking lot. I enjoyed a tasty Tex-Mex Scramble, but I guess it didn’t enjoy me. It didn’t sit well, I felt nauseous and a couple of times it threatened to come up. Thankfully I kept it down, but not without some water, dry heaving, concentration and breathing5.

We drove over to JCPenney so I could pick up a new pair of jeans. Arizona is my brand go-to for jeans! They fit me so nicely and they’re usually on sale. The last time I bought a pair of jeans, I had to try on the size I last remember buying, a size up and a size down – just to be safe. I ended up in the size down! So, I did the same thing just to be sure it wasn’t just the different style/brand of jeans I bought a month ago. Ding ding ding! I’m down a size in my favorite brand of jeans as well! It’s a great thing to have happen, but I didn’t get overly excited about it because there’s so much I could actually be doing to lose weight and tone up. Next we were on our way to the bookstore where my mom bought me a book on marriage by Dr. Laura and she got a Marry Higgins Clark novel as well as Wicked, which I’ll read after her. Back to the hotel after that!

Back at the hotel room, my parents argued over the bathroom6. After that, check out was imminent and I hung around to say goodbye and to get my Rx glasses from them after leaving them in LA the week prior. After parting ways, I drove home, sat on my butt for about an hour or two, picked up the husband from work and drove home where I spent the rest of my day. In my recliner, on my laptop, mainly chatting with Angel, Jenn & Kristen. I was engrossed in our conversations for most of the night that it caused my forgetting to post. At least you have a full post with details about the day!

Your week, in great detail.

Tuesday was a short shift at work. After coming home with the husband, we packed and drove up to my parents’ house in LA. We went off to our favorite karaoke bar for our favorite Tuesday night activities. Porn Star Karaoke! It’s our Cheers, especially on Tuesdays. It sounds like we’re pervs, and maybe we are a little inside. I won a DVD7 and our friend bought the rest of our drinks after our first round which was unbelievably nice of him. I sang “Hand In My Pocket”, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “All That Jazz”. Afterward, we went to a 24-hour Thai food restaurant and bought our friend a meal.

Wednesday, I slept until about noon. I forced myself up and out of the deflating Aerobed the husband I slept on. I didn’t do anything for the day until my friend Kelly came by and picked me up shortly before dinner. We had Thai food8 and chatted about things going on in the near future for her, and things going on with the husband and I. It was great seeing her after not seeing her for a few months! I came home afterward and had dinner with my family.

Thursday was a day at home, doing nothing. Even the husband was home most of the day, which I enjoyed. The family all had dinner together.

Friday, the husband and I drove back to SD and went to work. Saturday & Sunday were no different. Just more work. And then you have yesterday at great detail above :)

  1. Unnatural for me means any morning hour before there are two digits in the hour.
  2. Commence rolling eyes.
  3. Angel, specifically lol.
  4. The husband has had a different experience, at least once.
  5. I hate throwing up but I was willing to do so just to stop the awful discomfort I was feeling!
  6. Ew.
  7. I’ve garnered such a collection now lol.
  8. Twice in a day! New record for me!
