I know feelings are split on paid & sponsored blogging. Some people make a living off it (or try), some people just don’t care (like myself), and others absolutely despise when people “sell out” and give into the trend of selling space on their personal blogs and the entries they write. To be honest, while I don’t care all that much, I have run into the times where I become agitated that most entries made by someone on their blog are because they’re trying to earn that money. I know a lot of entries have personal opinions and stories in them, but those stories seem tainted when that link rears its head somewhere down the paragraph.
I’ve gotten into product reviews a little over a month again, and you’ve seen the result of that. Now, I’m also trying to edge my way into some paid blogging. Why? Because I’m trying to get all of my bills caught up and to have some extra spending money for myself is needed. I think it’ll also get me blogging a little more often, helping me write entries inspired by whatever assignment I might have.
Also, again to be honest, I don’t think I have that dedicated enough of a following that I’ll upset too many people with this change.
Even with as big as it is now, I still would like to know: What are your thoughts on paid & sponsored blogging?

Honestly, I do paid blogging, and frankly, I’m not really all that worried about links that pop up in blog posts. I’m of the opinion that just because there is a link, that doesn’t mean I have to click on it.
I know my blogs could definitely improve on the non-paid and non-linked posts and I am working on that, but sometimes it’s hard when you’ve got a lot of paid assignments and not that much to talk about!

I totally understand about having problems doing the non-paid/non-linked posts because there’s just nothing to talk about. I often find myself leading a fairly mundane life unless the husband stirs up a little drama or I actually DO something. As long as there’s a personal story intertwined with paid/sponsored stuff, I’m a fairly happy reader

My stance on paid blogging should be fairly obvious. I’m all for it, but I also think that bloggers should do their best to inject their personality into their paid posts. Work that link in in a creative manner, you know?

This is my opinion, exactly. Luckily anyone on my blogroll who does paid blogging (you included!) do a GREAT job of this

I tried doing sponsored reviews (think that’s what it was called) but there wasn’t really anything of interest for me to blog about. Do you know of any good ones for this kind of thing?

The two places I’ve signed up for for paid/sponsored blogging were recommended to me by a friend who’s been doing it for quite a while. The best one, apparently, is PayU2Blog.com – but I’m still waiting for them to approve me. Blogsvertise.com is the other one I’m doing which almost immediately gives you options of stuff to blog about (and at different price ranges). PU2B pays more regularly than Blogsvertise though (which is once a month). I just did my first one, so I’ll have to give it more time and I’ll be able to give you more of a personal view on it as time progresses!

I used to be concerned about what people thought too, but you know what? It’s your blog. You pay for the space so if they have a problem with it, they can take their asses off your website. No one is asking them to sit through and read them, they’re making the choice.
In any event, welcome to the world of paid blogging! Hopefully you can join me in the world of WoW soon too! =P
